Jadeite jade is one of the two types of genuine jade cherished in Chinese culture for centuries. Before the discovery of jadeite deposits in Myanmar (Burma), nephrite was the primary mineral used to craft jewelry and ornamental pieces. Over the past hundred years, jadeite has risen to become the most highly prized form of jade among the Chinese.
