Launching a collection, no matter how small, always feels a little like sending something fragile out into the world.

I released my Winter Blues pieces this weekend and they are all still here, which honestly surprised me a little. But that is the strange and serendipitous thing about making work by hand… you spend weeks bringing pieces to life and then you just have to wait and see who they resonate with.

Each piece in this small but mighty collection is one of a kind and made entirely by hand in my Charleston studio, using turquoise I’ve collecting over many years. The actual fabrication may be limited to hours (or days on some of those pieces), but the fruition of these pieces is always years in the making. Many of these stones have been sitting on my bench for a long time waiting to be made into something special. I’m glad these finally made their debut!

WINTER BLUES
A small collection of turquoise treasures that were formed in the coldest days of winter. A gentle reminder that spring is coming and the sun will be here before we know it. Mad Mad Metals isn’t a team. It’s just me.

Designing every piece, sourcing stones, doing the metal work, photographing, listing, updating the website, packing orders, printing labels, running to the post office, answering emails + DMs, fixing things I definitely broke myself, and then doing it all again tomorrow.

HR meetings are short. The dress code is questionable. The boss is demanding but very passionate. 😉

Thanks for supporting a one-woman operation, and a small kid who is living out her childhood dream (with slightly better tools and a lot more responsibility).

This piece carried me through winter.
I made this necklace during the coldest stretch of the season, drawn to the vibrant blue turquoise and icy swirls in the chrysocolla. I started it one day in December and would chip away at it here and there over the next month between other projects. Melting each ball, stamping each little detail and then meticulously sawing everything out and soldering each piece down. It was a small way to remember warmth, movement, and life beyond the gray days of winter. This hunk of beauty will be available this Saturday, March 5th with the rest of my Winter Blues collection. On the website at 1pm EST sharp.

Hi, I’m Madison 👋 I’m the maker, metalsmith, and studio dweller behind Mad Mad Metals. If you’re new here (or I’ve recently popped up in your feed!), I wanted to take a moment to properly say hello 🤍

I’ve welcomed so many new faces here lately and I’m incredibly grateful for the connections that have formed. I’ve had the joy of connecting with so many of you, welcoming new followers (hi!!), and finding community in comments, DMs, and seeing my work worn out in the world. Thank you for that 🖤

I’ve been handcrafting jewelry for over a decade now. Each piece starts with an idea, then becomes a sketch, then slowly transforms in my hands here in my studio. I source my own stones, I solder and texture and shape each piece, and yes, I pack every order myself too. It’s been years of steady learning, constant refining, and full-heart practice.

The past two years have been a chapter of new rhythms… becoming a mom has completely shifted how I move through my day, how I make time for work, how I think about space and process. Some days are messy, some are quiet, some feel like full-on magic (and sometimes it’s all three at once). And still, I keep showing up here, because this work matters to me, and because you have made it meaningful.

So here’s to connection, creativity, and the slow beauty of making things by hand. I’m so glad you found your way here. And if you’ve been here a while, thank you for continuing to support handmade, heart-led work 🤍

January/February Recap: Taught 5 full workshops and several private classes, watched the price of silver go from an all time high of $120 per ounce down to $75 an ounce back up to $94 (today’s price), I started a part time job, released a mini collection of heart shaped cuties, celebrated Valentines with my cutie daughter and am just gearing up for spring! Its been a wild and unexpected start to the year and I’m rolling with it the best I can. Thanks for being here!

Chrysocolla-Malachite + Turquoise together holding every shade of blue and green between them. A meeting place of earth and sky, this one was a joy to create: slow, intentional and guided by those dreamy stones. Certainly makes for a gorgeous, grounding piece of jewelry. ❤️❤️❤️
