Recently Carlene and I said Goodbye to our fierce Warrior Mom, Queenie B.

She was our personal ‘Mother Nature’. A 5ft giant. Strong. Resilient. Persistent. Ever Present.

She Raised us in rural Southwest Georgia. She was Mama but so much more. She was Teacher. Disciplinarian. Pastor. Motivational Speaker. Therapist. Councilor. Social Activist. Defender. Bodyguard. Confidant. Coach, Business Manager. Mentor. Girl Scout Leader. Comedian. Tailor. Florist. Chaffaur. Chef.

Her favorite phrase was “Chile we can make that” and then we would do just that. Dinners, fresh breads, hats, coats, purses, science projects, soap box cars, gardens, paintings, costumes, decorations, tablescapes, soap, furniture, screen prints and CLAY JEWELRY.

When Queenie told you that you could do something you knew that you could. She was going to be in front of you leading you. Then behind you pushing you. And finally beside you through it. And after it was achieved she would make your favorite cake to celebrate.

When things got difficult and you were down she would pick you up and say “You can’t do nothing standing still. Girl get yo ass up and do something “! 😂

Encouragement was her love language. Over the last week we have heard from so many telling us stories of how she encouraged them through so many challenging times. This has been the best memorial of all. Hearing these touching recounts, if it’s possible, made us even prouder to be her ‘girls’.

We will miss Mama but are so blessed to have had such a Steward. We were truly loved.🕊️
