OPAL
Opals are considered "phenomenal" gems that often display a "play-of-color" effect - a pattern of colored flashes distributed throughout the stone. The name “opal” originates from the Greek word opallios, which meant “to see a change in color.”
Opal is found around the world (Brazil, Mexico, Honduras and the western US) however Australia produces 95% of the world's precious opal and it is their official national gemstone.
Many cultures have credited opals with supernatural origins and powers. Arabic legends say it falls from the heavens in flashes of lightning. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave their owners the gift of prophecy and guarded them from disease. Europeans have long considered the gem a symbol of hope, purity, and truth. Some legends say it could make you invisible or protect you from getting hit by lightning! Opals are personally one of my favorites.

PINK TOURMALINE
Tourmaline stands apart from other gemstones because it features a broad spectrum of colors in every shade of the rainbow. The name “tourmaline” comes from the Sinhalese (a language of Sri Lanka) words tura mali, which mean “stone of mixed colors.”
Tourmaline is mined in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Mozambique, Madagascar, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the U.S.
In the late 1800s, Chinese Empress Dowager Tzu-Hsi loved pink tourmaline so much that she bought almost the entire production from a California mine. When she died, she was laid to rest on a pink tourmaline pillow. The rest of her treasure trove of pink tourmaline was used to make carvings.
Pink Tourmaline is believed to be a protective stone, helping to shield the wearer from negative energy and psychic attacks.

Accurate Insurance: In case your jewelry is lost or stolen, you want to have an accurate valuation so insurance can replace your treasures properly. It is recommended to get your jewelry appraised every 3-5 years. Values are always fluctuating. Right now gold has increased in value by 36% in the last 5 years.
Resale Information: When you get your jewelry appraised, you will have an accurate description and valuation so you can be sure you know its appropriate value.

The Ruby is July's birthstone. The name is derived from the Latin word ruber, meaning “red” – the color of love and passion.
The highest-quality rubies have a red hue, medium to medium-dark tone, and vivid saturation. It is acceptable for rubies to express some purple, pink, or orange undertones. The very best color of rubies is commonly referred to by the trade name "pigeon's blood".
Rubies are considered the king of gemstones and throughout history have been favored by royalty and warriors due to their rarity and belief that they hold magical powers protecting their owners from misfortune or illness.
Here are two beauties that we've appraised recently. Which one is your favorite?
