So I was watching a news story last night about the UPC codes for fruits and veggies. Each code means something to retailers and distributors.
For example:
3- # # #- # # # #
means it has been irradiated or has the apeel coating
4- # # #- # # # #
means it's been traditionally grown with herbicides and chemical fertilizer
8- # # #- # # # #
means the produce is geneticly modified and has been grown with herbicides and chemical fertilizer
9- # # #- # # # #
means it's been organicly grown with natural growing methods with no coatings or irradiation applied to it.
Now you know.........
