At Digital Silver Imaging, we believe that fine art photographic printing is a craft that deserves attention to detail and professional care. As one of the few photo labs in the world to integrate photographic laser technology with traditional silver gelatin paper, Digital Silver Imaging is at the forefront of printing technology. Our professional standards are so high in color and black & white printing that DSI is a both a Hahnemühle and Ilford Imaging Certified Digital Studio. Our team is made of experienced and dedicated photographers who believe your image is not complete until it’s printed and on display. We can’t wait to help you tell your story!

Another eventful Leica Society meeting in Detroit. DSI provided over 35 prints to members and we had an actual gallery for our event, including live jazz music and great food.

Thanks to Colin McKinley and the LSI team for hosting us again. See you all in Chicago next April.

Oh what a night!! Thanks to everyone that came out in support of the Photographic Resource Center for our 50th Gala at the Somerville Armory. I am so energized to be on the board of directors and to see the passion of so many people working together to bring this organization forward into the future.

We were able to honor so many important people, including founder Chris Enos, AD Coleman and Carl Chiarenza. Eelco Wolf, an influential partner and leader, was able to attend and accept his Legacy Award. Honored Educator Barbara Bosworth, professor emeritus from MASS Art was there to receive her award from one of her former students and PRC board member Amy Lovera. Local photographer Olivia Parker received our Legacy Artist Award and I was honored to give Lou Jones another Legacy Artist Award. Rania Matar also received the Legacy Artist award

I was thrilled to include everyone from Digital Silver Imaging at our table including friends Amber Davis Tourlentes, Stephen Tourlentes, Sophie Park and Jennifer Mawson.

I’m most proud of our Executive Director Catherine LeComte-Lecce for her dedication and leadership of the PRC. She announced new grants she has secured for our mentorship program for 2027 as well as other key supporters and funding to bring this organization forward. Stand by. Stay connected. Help us bring the PRC back into Boston for our next exciting chapter.

When this image arrived with a print order, our team flagged it right away. We contacted the customer and tracked down the copyright holder: photographer Terry O’Neill.

The customer told us the image was “widely available on the internet.” Unintentional infringement like this is unfortunately common, but an image being online doesn’t make it free to use.

As a fine art lab, we see ourselves as part of a worldwide community of photographers. Protecting your copyright is part of that responsibility, and we know how hard it is to police on your own.

Digital Silver Imaging is owned by photographers and run by photographers, for photographers. Does your lab look out for your work the same way?
Special thanks to our friends across the pond at Iconic Images, who manage Terry O’Neill’s work and kindly gave us permission to share his image for this post.

Click! Photography Festival How to turn your B&W images into stunning DSI Digital Silver Prints®️

Sunday Oct 4th 10AM Room A2 at the CLICK PHOTO FESTIVAL
Join us for an in-depth look at DSI Digital Silver Prints®—the fusion of digital technology and traditional silver gelatin printing—presented by Eric Luden, founder of Digital Silver Imaging and former Ilford executive with over four decades of experience in photographic printing. This presentation will explore how the DSI Digital Silver Print® process works, from digital file to laser exposure on true silver gelatin paper, and why it remains the only process of its kind in the world. Learn what sets Digital Silver Prints® apart, including their proven archival superiority, completely neutral image tone, and the unmatched richness only a continuous-tone silver print can deliver. Featuring striking examples from photographers who have chosen Digital Silver Prints® for their finest work, this session will give you a deeper appreciation for what makes a true black & white silver gelatin print unlike anything else available today.

DSI Digital Silver Print® RC is printed on true silver gelatin, black & white photographic paper and processed in liquid photo chemistry to archival standards — unlike RA4 (color) paper, which can leave black & white prints with an unwanted color cast.

A genuinely neutral tone — never a color cast that comes from printing black & white on color Kodak an Fuji Crystal Archive (RA4) photo paper
Exceptional tonal range and shadow detail — the kind of depth that comes from real silver, not simulated with ink dots
Archival longevity you can trust for prints meant to last
Ilford Pearl lustre surface

We opened our doors today to the seniors in the MassArt Photography Department program with professors Matthew Connors and Kanthy Peng 阚辛

We invited each student to upload a file and test our unique digital to analog DSI Digital Silver Print®️process. Two of our DSI Team members are also MASSART graduates. Andrea Carvajal Andrea Carvajal and nick ˙ᵕ˙ lead the tour and discussion. They all learned about myriad printing options, got to see and experience our silver gelatin print processor, and had two different framing demonstrations.

Thank you to Stephen Tourlentes and S. Billie Mandle for their support of this field trip 📷📷📷

What Nor’Easter??
📷📷📷
A wonderful way to spend a rainy Saturday evening with friends and colleagues at the Danforth Museum. Powerful exhibitions by Suzanne Gainer and Elizabeth Clark Libert. We collaborated with Elizabeth last year when her exhibition Boy Crazy was first shown at Hobart College. We are so pleased to be able to celebrate her work in MASS. Suzanne’s work, Every Woman and Nobody, deals with similar themes of trust, violation and abuse.

It was also great to see Neal Rantoul:A Life in Photographs spanning over 5 decades of his career, from traditional 8x10 work to has latest color photography.

It’s great to see so much talented photography on display at the Danforth. Curator Jessica Roscio did an amazing job curating all three of these exhibits.
