Most of my designs are inspired by the gorgeous semi-precious stones and pearls I hoard-yes, it’s a problem! My creative process is pretty random. Ideas often come to me while I’m walking my dog. I’ll think of colors or stones I want to work, shapes I want to play with. Then I go home and layout gemstones on my workbench and the designs come to me by mixing and matching and moving things around un
til it looks good to my eye. I chose stones for their colors and textures, favoring faceted and earthy tones, but this could always change tomorrow! Currently, my favorites are tourmaline, aquamarine, moonstone and uniquely shaped pearls. I use various metalsmith techniques including hammering, forging, fusing, soldering, wire wrapping and even knitting. My favorite materials to work with are silver, copper, and bronze. The majority of my jewelry is casual enough for everyday wear, but can easily be dressed up. I like to design pieces that are easy to wear, make women feel pretty and hopefully become a favorite!
