Someone posted in another Facebook Group I belong to that her and her man were arguing and that he’s actually making sense. So she came to the Facebook Group to ask what she should do next…..And here was my response:
Tell him he’s making sense…embrace each other and turn the corner to show up every day for each other.
I’m writing a book and the title came to me last night…”If tomorrow never comes…”.
I’m working through healing from all the hurt I’ve dealt with over my lifetime and I’m making room to love on those that I say I care about before it’s too late. I hear people say all the time, when a loved one is no longer on this earth, I wish I could just hear their voices one more time. I wish I could say I love you one more time.
Your one more time was the blessing in you being able to wake this morning to try it again, one more time. We won’t always get it right…but what if that moment was snatched away from us without warning.? Was the argument even worth having?
This has been a hard but very rewarding summer for me…seeing a friend lose her husband in a fishing accident and they’d been together since they were 13 years old. Having a client lose her fiancé to gun violence one week before her wedding…Seeing multiple friends close to my age lose their mothers…All the shoulda, coulda, woulda’s start spinning in your head and then you realize, one day, you too will either lose someone you really love or they’ll lose you…It’s inevitable. We are all going to leave this earth one day. Will we leave our loved ones wishing they shoulda, coulda, woulda for us or will we be the ones singing that old faithful hymn ourselves?
Love that man like you never have before. You only get one lifetime, be it for one more day or for 80 more years.
I’m trying my hardest to help those people that I love and care for know, understand and realize that this life will be over soon, that we cannot continue to take advantage of the precious moments and time that we have with each other. I hope that they’re able to see and understand that before it’s my time to leave this earth.
And, if all else fails…do what everyone else suggested….just cry. LOL. I have a sense of humor too yall.
I understand more now than ever before that most people love with conditions….(ex. as long as I do for them, as long as I’m the first one to initiate a conversation, as long as I will use my precious time and resources to visit them, we are cool.). But you have to ask yourself, when the tables are turned, will they do the same for the people they “say” they love and care for…..or will they resort to being that person who cries their eyes out or stops by the funeral home to simply pay their respect…I don’t want my flowers at my grave….I want them while I can see and smell them….while I can say, “Thank you.”
This life has taught me a lot but the one thing I’m most grateful for is that it’s taught me what “UNCONDITIONAL LOVE” looks like.
