Hi it's me, Aurora! you may know me from Atlanta, or New York, or France, or somewhere else in the world :p Im a ceremonial ritual dancer, and Im also a jewelry designer! I picked up macrame about 5 years ago in Central and South America while on my spiritual journey to the Amazons, and I have been weaving gemstone & other natural treasures into pieces of wearable art ever since! A LITTLE MORE ABO
UT MY MACRAME:
Each piece is made with a waxed polyester that comes from Brazil (hilo encerado). The string itself is coated within and without with wax, thus making it waterproof. The string is even durable enough to be used in shoe weaving. The texture is tough, and solid. I charge, cleanse, and activate each stone I work. Check online to find out the meaning and metaphysical properties of the stones you like! CARING FOR YOUR MACRAME:
To clean the strings of your piece, merely place the piece in a bowl with warm water, allow to sit for five minutes, then apply a single drop of dishwashing soap or hand soap, and then brush the strings with a tooth brush (or something similar) to create a foam. Once youve brushed the whole piece, place back in the bowl and watch as the dirt falls to the bottom of the bowl. Repeat when necessary. Avoid using excessively hot water, as the string contains wax, and is not resistant to heat. To cleanse the stone on your piece, you can wash the stone in salt water, or lay it out in sunlight or moonlight for minimum 24 hours. There are more elaborate methods online. Here's a good site I found with helpful advice: http://www.spiralsoflight.com/crystalblog/gemstones/how-to-cleanse-crystals-gemstones/
RATES:
I charge a cent/per knot rate on all stone/shell pieces (necklaces - 8 cents, bracelets - 5 cents, head pieces 6 cents), plus the cost of the stone/shell. This rate includes the cost of labor (roughly $25-$40/hr) and the cost of string. On all other basic macrame items, I charge 4 cents per knot. The strings, I order are made in Brazil. You cant find this quality of waxed polyester in the United States. It must be imported. COMMISSIONS:
