Decades on State Street, countless stories at the counter.
Thanks to Believe in Bristol for the spotlight and to our customers—past, present, and future—for making Goodman Jewelers part of Downtown Bristol’s story. Since 1971 💎
DID YOU KNOW…!
Goodman Jewelers of Bristol has been part of our region’s story for more than five decades and its roots go back even further.
The Goodman family’s jewelry tradition began in the late 1950s, when William “Bill” Goodman (great-uncle to the current owner!) opened his original store in Chilhowie. In 1970, that legacy expanded to Bristol through a joint venture, and by 1971, the State Street location was officially in operation under the stewardship of cousin Jimmie Jones.
A major chapter for downtown as we know it today began in 1995, when local bluegrass musician (and flatpicking virtuoso) Tony Collins purchased the business from his cousin and helped shape it into the community fixture many locals know and love. Under Tony’s leadership, Goodman’s became more than a place to buy jewelry. It was a place to linger, catch up, talk music, swap stories, and celebrate life’s biggest moments.
From engagement rings and anniversary surprises to prom jewelry, heirloom repairs, and “just because” gifts, its counters have seen generations of Bristol memories pass through.
Today, that downtown spirit continues with Tony’s son, Blake Collins, who blends modern design and custom work with the same friendly, trustworthy service that has always defined the shop. Whether you’ve been coming in for years or you’re visiting for the first time, Goodman Jewelers remains a familiar and welcoming part of State Street life.
Through changing seasons and changing times, this little storefront has remained a steady part of Downtown Bristol.
✨ Proof that our best history is often written in everyday moments.
