Taubman Museum of Art 75th Anniversary Frame 2025

This trame was commissioned by the to celebrate the Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Lam transformed a vintage frame with her signature handwoven metal lace, wrapping the intricate pattern around the front and back, even in areas visitors cannot see. This careful attention to detail reflects her commitment to craftsmanship.

The frame features more than 30 symbols representing key moments in the Museum’s history, beloved works of art in the Museum’s Permanent Collection, and meaningtul connections to the community. These ideas grew through collaborative brainstorming sessions with Museum staff, volunteers, and members of the Board of Trustees.

Each corner of the frame represents a different season.
Shifts in color, created with Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones, mark the changing seasons and symbolize the passage of time and the Museum’s lasting presence in the community.

About Mindy Lam

Mindy Lam is a Hong Kong born artist and couture jewelry designer that weaves various metals into intricate lace patterns with Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, and sculpted sterling silver using lost wax casting techniques. Her work reflects the craftsmanship of the classic couture houses of old, but with a refreshingly modern edge, with the fusion of her signature florals and metals.

The collection can be worn on the red carpet as statement pieces for young starlets and veteran fashionistas, to custom pieces for entertainers for the stage.

From bridal and costume design with full length woven metal floral gowns and fantasy headpieces to avant garde home and event décor, Mindy Lam is a force and all-around design rock star.

Designing for over 15 years, Lam has been featured in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as the featured designer during the Picasso Black and White Exhibit, Brides Magazine, ELLE, L’Officiel, Glamour, People, Life & Style, and Vogue Italia.
