If you’ve ever looked at a piece and thought, “it needs more fringe”… you’re probably right.

This class is a 90-minute deep dive into the most addictive element in beadwork: fringe. We’ll explore 10 different types, along with design, proportion, movement, thread choices, and the do’s and don’ts that make the difference between “nice” and lush, irresistible drama.

We won’t build a finished piece—but we will start a working fringe reference booklet, with samples of each style you can return to again and again. Bring your unfinished pieces to class and at the end we will look at them and discuss what types of fringe to add!

For the Love of Art: A Masters Class by Cynthia Rutledge

For the Love of Art focuses on the relationship between you and a favorite painter’s paintings. This style of box was called a “casket” in the 18th century. Basically, it means a trinket box and would have been placed on a lady’s toilette table. It usually contained the lady’s earrings and necklaces so that they were in easy reach.

Combines metals, beads, CZs and cabochons. Advanced level students.

The construction of the box begins with a metal base that is bezeled. The wall of the box comes off of the base to the desired height. This style of box usually had feet, so CZs and pearl cabs are bezeled to lift the box up off the table for better scale.

Kits are personalized and not included in the registration fee. They range from $200+ depending on CZs and beads chosen and whether you have the metals tools.
