General information

Since our beginning in 1996 Silver Hill Trout Association has raised over 100,000 trout and has stocked more than 36 cumulative miles of streams and creeks open to Pennsylvania’s fishing public. Silver Hill trout Association has never deviated from our vision. Our first year was marked with a single event, our annual Kids day Fish ‘O” Ramah. This event brought some 25 children with their parents hoping to catch a few of our 300 stocked trout. Today, SHTA stocks well over 8500 trout each year, and our annual Kids Day Fish ‘O” Ramah remains as popular is the first event. Held each May on the Rock Run Creek in Northeastern Lancaster County, the Derby promotes families spending time together. Presently, well over 200 children and their parents together try their hand at catching some of our 2yr old and even 3-yr old trout. Likewise, each year during the months of April and May, SHTA provides weekly stockings of trout. Headquartered in North Eastern Lancaster County, Silver Hill Trout Association was founded thirteen years ago by area Fishermen that love the sport of trout fishing. Operating two separate nurseries under the Pennsylvania Cooperative Nursery Program, we presently raise some 8500 trout per year. Under the Cooperative Nursery Program, we annually receive in the month of June, a pre-determined amount of fingerling trout. We then through memberships and donations raise these trout to adult age for stocking in our local waters. These local waters are exclusively open to the public for fishing.
