The Woodlands Garden
I love my clients so much. We made this couple’s wedding rings 15 years ago. We were thrilled to be asked this year to create their 15th anniversary ring. We started the project with the concept of a ‘Woodland Garden’. The first step in my process is to find the right center stone. This incredible natural deep forest green emerald cabochon from a vintage collection became the centerpiece. It also represented the Month of May which was one of the children’s birthstone and the month they got married. Prong and bezel set in 18ky gold we created a Lilly of the Valley motif in the inset in each side. The two bands became the wildflowers that live in the garden. Various shades of pink tourmaline represented the two October birthdays in the family, and the marquis bezel set diamonds are the 14 leaves that surround the center, also representing an April birthday, and the May anniversary date. I designed the bands as mirror images, that fit together and neatly tucked into the sides of the center tapered band, they work perfectly as one, two or three rings that can be worn in a variety of ways.
When my clients allow me to be an artist, and design accordingly, this is my dream career. To be a part of a family for 15 years, and to create such an important piece in their family history, is truly the joy of my life. 🌸 Creating a piece of jewelry like this is a demarcation of time and place, as well as weaving a legend into an heirloom.
