FUNDAMENTALS AND MASTERY Dec 2016
Fundamentals and Mastery are closely intertwined. For example, the more often I use my Blogger program it becomes easier for me to use and I don't have to struggle my way thru it. It becomes automatic. I go immediately to composing and set the format for the new blog. All without thinking on what step is first and then what step is next. Mastery is using these basic Fundamental skill sets repetitiously.
Repetition links the two together, and used often becomes a powerful tool in achieving success. I see master musicians practicing their art every single moment. My dad was a musician in the Air Force and days when he wasn't working, he would be practicing the basic skill sets for playing the French horn. That was the way he taught me to play the piano. Hanon music book was full of basic skills for mastering the piano. My Dad told me to concentrate on those exercises. Then playing the other music would be easy to grasp. At the time I was doing this, it was boring, repetitive and I had no idea why I was doing it. But, it got me music gigs during high school and recognition as an accomplished pianist.
Also, fundamentals and mastery can bring you success in a magical way. Once you understand what it is all about, you can use these skills in many ways. For example, you can use it playing sports, analyzing business and real estate investments, stocks, bonds, almost anything that requires a skill set to understand. So, the next questions is what's your passion?
Are you living your passion? Is it long term and focused?
