Wow. This was our first appearance in the Rose Parade. Can’t believe it was ten -oops, ELEVEN -years ago! The theme was “Dreams Come True” and a number of us truly fulfilled our dreams participating in this parade. Several of these horses have passed away. Some of the participants no longer have horses. Times change yet our love for these horses and the incredible places they have taken us we will cherish forever.

What is one item in your tack box you cannot live without? Rubber bands

What tips or advice would you give to someone who is new to dressage? Try to watch and learn! Take advantage of any opportunity to watch trainers or other riders and lessons (but be sure to ask permission and never take or post photos or videos without asking.) If people have the time they may even be willing to answer some questions about the lesson or training session. Don’t limit yourself to mounted exercises; observing a lunge season, working in hand, or ground work can also be helpful. A lot of people like to watch videos but don’t think about what they can see in person!

A fun fact about you: I rode at hilltop as a kid in the 90’s-2000’s and now I get to ride with and teach the next generation! It’s really rewarding to see all the kids get excited about our sport.

Thank you once again Rocky Mountain Horse Expo for the invitation to bring our Fjord Horses to meet horse loving folks and to represent Boulder County Sheriff's Mounted Search and Rescue and the Larimer County Sheriff's Posse. We met many old friends, made new ones and answered a lot of questions about BoCo Mounted Search and Rescue and the Posse. We’ll be back today for the World of Horses and the Breed Barn. Hope to see you there!
