For emeralds, color is the most important quality factor. The most desirable shades range from bluish green to pure green—a perfect match for May, when spring growth is in full swing.

For this custom piece, a client asked us to create a stainless steel ring using a family emerald. We love how it turned out—the combination of stainless steel and yellow gold makes the emerald’s color really shine.

Our “A” metal combination—18K yellow gold, 14K palladium white gold, 14K red gold, and sterling silver—is a luxurious, timeless favorite. It was the first precious metal mokume combination Jim created, and it remains one of our most loved.

It’s beautiful etched or non-etched, with or without rails or stones; and offers incredible depth and warmth. Add **nanako detailing**—the raised beading shown in the lower-left photo—and the look becomes even more striking.
