Wrote a different version of this for FB, but here goes:

I’ve enjoyed a lot of success being in the making stuff biz (such as press for a weirdo freeform lace jewelry line), but that chapter of my life will be slowly closing. I’ll always be an artist and a maker of objects but I’m not going to try to make it my regular income anymore. Got really close to it but between the pandemic and Landis getting sick I don’t have the wherewithal to do the NOT ART part of it.

Perhaps seasonally sometimes I’ll have something released, and I’m definitely gonna have stuff for this holiday season. It just won’t be my focus after that.

BECAUSE I’m lining up work for my non-dogwalking days so I can just have a paycheck that will support us enough while I put myself through school to get a nursing degree. It’s the path of least resistance to be honest and it makes a lot of sense. There’s a nurse shortage, I know I can be good at it, I will have job security and an amount of money and benefits that would relieve stress and let us enjoy getting old.

So yeah, buy my s**t when you can because we can definitely use the scratch but there will be fewer opportunities to do so after this year. 💕

Trying to find spots in the house that have good natural light AND not a lot of background stuff is nigh impossible so pardon my obstruction of one of my fave Landis paintings (not for sale unless you have thousands upon thousands).

Anywho! Not sure what to call this crochet top that I adore. Not quite a shirt, is it a vest? Made from lightweight cotton, a lil bit adjustable in the back. Could be more of bralette/bikini top cover if you’re larger? (If you’re local and adventurous and wanna try it on, hmu.)

Based off of the Venus Top by Lizard & Hook, it’s just an arrangement of pentagons and squares. Took a lot of my own liberties and pretty pleased!

I’ll be posting each of my newer items one by one in an effort to free up rack space and catch up on some essentials and perhaps have a yarn budget again.

Hello! This is me a few hours ago, documenting my new color. Soon I will be pushing myself to document all the stuff I’ve been making in a more thoughtful manner again. I’ve been phoning it in for a looonnnngggg time. Hoping to have my website back in the works soon. I… don’t know how online I can truly be - I’m having a strong reaction to this time of year as we hit some gruesome anniversaries, and it’s also hard for me to deal with the clutter of social media. I haven’t been taking the time to achieve “good enough” photography for all the garments I’ve been making, or I’d probably be here a little more often. I’m hoping to change that soon but here’s another taste.

Local pals: I’ll be set up at Fierce Chicks Rock’s Epic Yard Sale benefitting Ride for the Feast/Moveable Feast this coming Saturday morning, 4/20 😏. It’s on 31st right near the Waverly Farmers’ Market. Landis will be with me, slinging his upcycled clothing. We had a blast doing this last year, really looking forward to doing it again!

I’m finishing up the retrofuture hoods folks ordered this weekend and shipping shortly thereafter.

As far as my lil handmade biz goes, I’m forgoing the online thing for a bit. It requires a lot of organizing and my organizational skills are being used elsewhere for a while.

BUT. I still have the supplies & my notes to work on some fun mesh wearables for warmer times so I’m getting a head start so I have a nice selection come spring.

Here’s pictures of one of the pieces I made last year - as you can see, the material has a nice drape on a variety of bodies. Also, *wolf whistle* at Joseph!

Ahem. Anyway, I had a bunch of silhouettes I wanted to make and have dreamed up a few more that I’m eager to play around with. I’m determined to make myself one that I get to keep! Last year, before everything went out of control, I couldn’t even do a proper release because folks were claiming them faster than I could make them. So I’m hiding them until I’m stocked up.

I don’t like being cold. Years ago that meant I went inside in November and wouldn’t come back outside until April, except to work somewhere indoors and perhaps to drink too much whiskey somewhere. I can’t drink whiskey anymore and I work outside year round and I gotta admit, it was a long journey to appreciate being cold.

Go figure that taking iron and wearing a s**t ton of colorful layers while walking a bunch of dogs warmed me right up! I’m such a cozy, colorful toddler while out in the world these days. My outerwear game is so on point that I get compliments pretty much every day I leave the house. 😎 It may sound like a brag but it’s an actual fact.

Here’s the brag though: I make a lot of the colorful gear I wear, and I try to pair it with the creations of other artists or the selections of master clothing curators that embrace maximalism in the face of stark times. When the world around us goes to sleep and sheds its color I opt to be the pop of color rather than blend into the muted fog.
