Every year around Labor Day, I make the drive out to Grinter’s Sunflower Farm. Growing up in Kansas, it is a tradition I have enjoyed since college.
Even with the thick, humid late summer heat, there is nothing quite like looking out over rows and rows of bright, vibrant flowers all facing you as they track the morning sun. Beyond being our state flower, I love watching how much life these fields support, feeding the honeybees and passing monarchs right now before becoming seeds for the birds as fall sets in.
When we designed the solar Heartlander, we wanted to infuse a little bit of those roots into the watch itself, right down to the sunflower motif on the crown and caseback. Taking the Slate Gray back out into the morning light felt like coming full circle.
For anyone who has been waiting since our first run cleared out in February, a fresh batch landed back on the site this week, and we start packing and shipping orders this coming Tuesday.
Make sure to swipe through for a few excerpts from those quiet moments yesterday morning, including a busy honeybee and a monarch stopping by for breakfast.
Hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
