Femailler is leaving Etsy.
Unfortunately, Etsy has implemented new AI security algorithms that keep locking me out of my account when I send authentic mundane messages. This can take days to resolve, and can happen while I have open orders to fulfill — locking me out of the ability to access and complete those orders, and communicate with those buyers.
This is creating an unacceptable experience for my customers and is forcing me off of Etsy. I have already set my listings to not renew after they expire, so my inventory will continue to disappear from Etsy over the next couple of months.
This coupled with Etsy’s refusal to remove AI powered shops has made it abundantly clear that Etsy is no longer human-focused, much less artist-focused. As someone who has sold on and supported Etsy for 17 years, this is beyond disappointing. I hope Etsy makes ethical decisions in the future and eventually returns to its roots.
