CARD ONE, ⚔️THE TWO OF SWORDS⚔️ is the moment of hesitation before illumination, the desire to hold back & consider, to ride things out on the threshold before committing fully. It’s a card that feels deeply liminal to me—appropriate as we move toward the solstice & the longest night of the year. Sometimes we must resist the light for a little while in order to better understand what it can teach us. Darkness is a boundary worth exploring.

If you’re feeling noncommittal & hesitant, honor that. Honor your doubts, fears, & anxieties. So much of spiritual work seems designed to eradicate these “bad” emotions, but so often the things we are trying to run from or numb out are our most important teachers. The Two of Swords is defensiveness borne out of uncertainty, & in a world where you are so often pressured to be 100% “on” all the time, 100% confident, please know that ***it is okay to not know***. It’s okay to delay plans. It’s okay to take time to consider your options & your position. It’s okay not to speak if you don’t feel ready, or if you haven’t decided. You are permitted time to process. You are permitted fear, doubt, worry. Sometimes magick isn’t synchronicity & the swell of positive energies & affirmations. Sometimes magick is an unpleasant twinge in the gut, a dark intuition, an obsessive thought that won’t pass until it has been acknowledged. If you’re feeling that as the solstice approaches, let it sit. Let it lull you into a liminal space where you are simultaneously in control & yielding control, where you are deferring action in favor of gentle revelation & wisdom.

11.14.19 - Ten of Swords: Whenever we see this particular card we are reminded of emotions related to bottoming out, feeling like a victim or being a sort of martyr. Our hope here is that the energies around these feelings are fading and there's nowhere to go but up! Do not take the meaning of this card as negative, but rather a kick in the pants to get yourself motivated. Stop feeling like a victim and bemoaning your fate because it is your own efforts that will get you out of the rut!
