This past Saturday I attended the sunset valley ARTFEST! It was a wonderful experience despite the heat and humidity, but it’s always amazing to meet other artists/vendors from around the state and the people who come to see them. I sold 2 of my small paintings, 2 large paintings, one ornament and several prints, making this one of my most successful and profitable markets! Thank you to those who came to visit me and those of you who have purchased/will be purchasing work!

Don’t forget: I’ll be at the Redbud Artisan Market in Fredericksburg with more new paintings! The market runs Saturday 10-5, and Sunday 10-4! Come see me!

There wasn’t a single photo that had the lighting I was looking for in this piece.

I studied multiple horses, different lighting references, and built the composition from scratch until the light felt right.

This painting took several weeks of layering and adjusting to get the glow in the coat and the drama in the shadows.

Sometimes the reference doesn’t exist… so you have to create it.

“The Thunder Rolls Again” ⚡️🌩️

This commission was born from the moment a collector saw the small original at Austin Studio Tour last November.
It resonated with her, she felt it, and asked for more—
bigger scale, deeper drama, and pinks in the sky turned all the way up.

This piece is about that breath right before the storm breaks—
when the sky glows, the land holds still,
and you can feel the thunder coming long before you hear it.

I’ll be sharing a closer look at this painting tomorrow ✨
