A while back, I came across a journal prompt that stopped me:
What is enough for you?

I expected my answer to be complicated.
It wasn’t.
Fulfilled by my work.
Open and honest relationships.
Comfortable in my own skin.

What surprised me most was that none of my answers were things.

This week’s letter is about being done, being unfinished, and deciding when something is enough for now.

And I’ll leave you with the same question:
What is enough for you?

I’ve spent 19 years putting words on jewelry, but somewhere along the way I realized the jewelry was only part of the story.

Choosing a word can feel exciting. Wearing it can help you remember it. But the part I became most interested in was what happens next.

How does a word actually become part of your life?

That question has shaped so much of what I’m building now.

Not because I have it all figured out. I’m living with my own word right alongside you, noticing where it comes naturally, where I resist it, and how often I need to come back.

That is what (em)powered words is really about.

Not finding the perfect word.

Finding one that matters and learning what happens when you keep choosing it.

Maybe it’s pattern recognition.
Maybe it’s kismet.
Maybe the universe has impeccable timing and a flair for subtlety.

I’m not ruling anything out.

Life is about the little moments that make something feel meant for you.

Choosing your word feels like the exciting part — but it’s what comes next is the most surprising and rewarding.
It’s where the word meets your actual life and slowly becomes part of it.

The busy days.
The old habits, slowly released.
The changes you didn’t expect.
The moments when it comes naturally.
The times it doesn’t.

I built The Circle around living with your word — a guided experience for what happens AFTER you choose it.

This week’s essay explores what happens in between.

I’m building The Circle around a very human problem :
we choose a word because it matters to us, and then life keeps happening.
We forget. We drift. We get busy. We assume we have ruined the whole thing.

But living with a word was never supposed to be a perfect streak.
It is a practice of noticing, adjusting, and returning.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to share some of the prompts and practices inside The Circle while I work through them with my own word, untamed.

Not as someone who has mastered it.
As someone still learning what it asks of me.

It’s August.
Remember the word you chose in January?

Maybe you wrote it in a journal. Told a friend. Put it on a vision board. Chose a piece of jewelry to carry it.

Maybe it stayed close for a while.
And then life got loud.

If your word feels far away now, that does not mean you failed. It does not mean you chose the wrong word. It may simply mean that deadlines, groceries, work, family, and a hundred small things began asking for your attention.

A word is not something you choose once and live perfectly from that point forward.
There will be friction. Forgetting. Returning. Trying again.
That is the practice.

This is part of why I have been creating The Circle: Living with Your Word, a five-month guided experience for those who have chosen a word and want support actually living with it.

It opens in September. Until then, I’m going to share some of the practices inside it and show you how I am using them with my own word, untamed.

For now, consider this your August check-in:
Is your word still with you?
Tell me your word—and whether it still feels close.

The words are small on purpose.

Not because they matter less.
The lettering is quiet because the meaning is private.

Not every message is meant to be shared.

Some are meant to stay close—

A promise you made to yourself.
A lyric that brings someone back.
A private joke.
A name.
A date.
A few words that belong only to you.

It does not need to be read across the room.

It only needs to be there when you need to find it.

That is what makes jewelry an anchor:
the reminder stays near your body, quietly waiting for you.

Jewelry is more than an accessory. It is an expression of who you are.

Sometimes that expression is visible: the shapes, metals, and pieces you choose. Sometimes it is private: a name, a date, a promise, a lyric, or an inside joke that means nothing to anyone else and everything to you.

Because jewelry stays close to the body, it can become a physical reminder of what matters.
I wrote more about the words we carry, the meaning we give them, and why they have always been at the heart of my work.

Every July, is a natural place to look back, as it is the anniversary of my business. This year marks 19 years.

In the past, I would have done that with a red pen—marking what went wrong, what took too long, and all the places I thought I should be by now.
This year, I am looking somewhere else. I am looking at what I want now.

After years of pushing through learning how to run a business as I go, adjusting to business growing pains, having babies, a pandemic, a move, rising metal prices, and changes in the business, I finally gave myself room to ask whether the version of success I had been building was still right for me.

The answer? It is still taking shape.
I know I want something smaller, more personal, and more connected. I want to bring more of myself into my work by connecting jewelry and empowered words. I want to teach more. I want to follow what gives me energy and release what asks too much of me.

I do not know exactly what Christina Kober Designs will look like next year.

At 19 years, I am not looking back with a red pen.
I am looking at possibility.
And I trust myself to find the way.
