Originally in Hughes Springs, Texas, the Harps moved the business to Atlanta in the summer of 1965. It was here that the business thrived and grew with the addition of the Harps’ daughter, Donna, and her husband, David Head, along with their son Jon in January of 1974. David was instrumental in helping Ray with repairs and sales. It was during this time that Ray focused on becoming Atlanta’s Diamo
nd Store. The Harps’ family grew in 1994 with Jon’s marriage to Tamy Starling. In 1997, Ray and Doris retired, and David and Donna purchased the business. Jon worked along side his parents, eventually becoming a graduate gemologist, now having 30 years of experience on the workbench. 60 years after establishing Ray Harp Jewelers, Ray and Doris passed away in the spring of 2013. The second, third, and fourth generations of the Harps’ business continues with the same service and integrity the customers have always learned to trust.
