R.I.P Queen Angie Stone.
I'm sorry to share this sad news, but Angie Stone, was a beautiful and talented R&B singer. Her voice was so authentic and soulful. She didn't get all of the flowers she deserves while alive. Yesterday, she tragically passed away in a car accident on March 1, 2025.
She was only 63 years old. The accident occurred in Montgomery, Alabama, just hours before she was scheduled to perform at the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore.
Angie Stone was a Grammy-nominated artist known for her contributions to the music industry, including her work with The Sequence and her successful solo career.
Her legacy in the world of R&B and hip-hop will be remembered by many...including me.
She had several notable hits throughout her career. Some of her biggest record hits include:
1. "No More Rain (In This Cloud)" - This track from her debut solo album Black Diamond I became an anthem of healing and resilience.
2. "Wish I Didn't Miss You" - One of her most recognized songs, this hit from her album Mahogany Soul samples The O'Jays' "Backstabbers" and became a heartbreak anthem. One of my favorite songs of hers.
3. "Brotha" - A powerful tribute to Black men, this song from Mahogany Soul celebrated Black strength and resilience, which was another one of my favorite songs.
4. "U-Haul"- Written and produced by Missy Elliott, this song from her album *Stone Love* earned her a Grammy nomination.
5. "I Wanna Thank Ya" (featuring Snoop Dogg) - This smooth collaboration from Stone Love captured the early 2000s R&B/hip-hop fusion sound.
These songs showcase her incredible talent and contributions to the music industry.
