Breaking - Here's the initial forecast track for newly designated Potential Tropical Cyclone 9. TS watches & warnings were issued for a portion of the Bahamas. It's expected to become TS and eventually a category 1 hurricane early next week as it heads towards South Carolina. Could end up being a big flood threat if the systems slows down near the coast as currently forecasted by the NHC. Please follow the progress of this system if you are in or near the path. Direct impacts to the Bahamas and eastern U.S are decreasing as models are now showing consensus that the turn will occur before getting too close to land. Will monitor for any forecast changes. Ok. If you haven't been following this relatively slow hurricane season, it's time to perk up a bit as models are showing possibilities as we inch closer to August. Nothing imminent right now & it's not time to stack rolls of toilet paper. A 40-50% chance of tropical Atlantic development is possible over the next 10 days, per the EURO ensembles. The Lesser Antilles should monitor. The current steering pattern would not support a hard right turn. Will keep you all updated. The first storm of the season in the Atlantic Basin has formed. Tropical Storm has formed in the central Atlantic. It will be a short-lived storm and will weaken by Wednesday evening as conditions become unfavorable for the storm to sustain itself. Andrea is not a threat to land, but is noteworthy as it has been labeled as the first storm to form this season in the Atlantic.
