The RAD Creative Campus has been a vision for years from the community that has shaped, defined, and grown the River Arts District. This proposal was solidified out of multiple charettes and visioning projects post Hurricane Helene. The storm did not create problems, rather made our challenges impossible to ignore.

1. how to make the RAD accessible to artists of all experience levels, backgrounds, and mediums.

2. A safe space out of the floodplain.

3. Connect the RAD to our greater WNC artist community.

This vision is a long term community resilience initiative to promote sustainability of the arts with maker spaces, education, peer mentorship, youth programs, capital intensive equipment housed out of the floodplain, and a resiliency hub to provide support and storage of when, not if, a large storm event happens again.
