Maybe my tiniest carving? (The angel of grief) These guys are difficult to photograph but stunning in person. Flowers from both of my grandparents services and my Dad's ashes - under clear quartz. Hey friends.

I received an order for cremation jewelry earlier this week and my client shared with me that she had found her beautiful 13 year old son lifeless the week prior. She asked that I share this incredibly heartbreaking story. It is profoundly generous of this mother to try to shield other families from this kind of pain while she is in the depths of her own grief. Although I will not be posting any personal or identifying information, this post is being shared at the explicit request of a grieving mother who wants to save lives. Please keep the comments supportive and focused on awareness. This is not a generic "reshare", this is a first hand account from an actual client, who lost her very real child.

This child wasn’t depressed, and he didn't want to die. In fact, he was incredibly happy and looking forward to starting high school. Instead, he lost his life trying a viral social media stunt known as the "Blackout Challenge" alone in his bedroom. He thought he was just doing a harmless prank to pass out for a few seconds. What he didn't understand is that when the body goes limp, gravity takes over, and a temporary stunt can instantly become permanent and fatal.

She, as well as many other parents have told their kids, "Don't do those stupid internet challenges." But here is the disconnect: Our kids see other children doing them online and turning out ok, so they assume their parents are just overreacting. Survivors Bias.

The reality is devastating:

The "Blackout Challenge" alone has claimed over 80 young lives in recent years.

Funeral homes are seeing repetitive cases of this exact tragedy.

Other trends, like swallowing large amounts of cinnamon, can cause instant suffocation that standard first aid (like the Heimlich) cannot fix.

Our children's brains are still developing into their early 20s and they genuinely believe they can handle the risks. Please sit down with your kids tonight. Don't just forbid these challenges—explain exactly how dangerous and deceptive they really are. It's easy to assume our kids know better, but I personally can look back at things I did in my young life and count many things that very easily could have ended in tragedy. Things I'm confident my Mom thought I was too smart for.

Let’s honor this beautiful boy’s memory by having these tough, explicit conversations with our own children today. It could save a life. I let my oldest read her words yesterday. Please feel free to share.

In the next couple of days my first born graduates high school, I turn 40, my son moves into his dorm for the summer bridge program, lots of family and friends coming and going to celebrate with him, and then we are headed out for vacation.
I've been working very very hard to clear my workload so I can focus (as best I can) on all of these big life changes and soaking up time with my boy. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU NOLAN!!!!

P.S. When I come up for air in July I should be able to turn my wait times down finally!

In order from left to right:

Moon Urn, available in yellow gold or rose gold toned- Can fit approximately 3 characters, on the back of the necklace.
Flower with leaves- Fits 15-20 characters
Bullet- Fits approx 6 characters down the side
Round CZ pendant (this unscrews to reveal a decent sized space that can hold ashes, hair, a pill, or a tooth), available in silver or rose gold colors- This is engravable on the front and/or the back. The back can have 15-20 characters with a name or possibly paw print on the front.
Military Memmorial- 3-4 characters on the bottom of the pendant
Butterfly- 7 characters, if anyone wants the one engraved "Grandma" already I can discount it even further.
Gold toned gemstone pendant (available in silver, gold, or rose gold with a variety of gemstone colors- 10-15 characters on the back of the heart
Textured paw print (available in rose gold, silver, black, and yellow gold)- Approx 15-20 character.

All pendants are stainless steel.
