Every now and then, a project comes across Alfonzo's bench that makes us both stop and just appreciate what we get to do for a living. (And yes, as his other half, I do occasionally peer over his shoulder to make sure he’s actually working and not just daydreaming over his tools! 😉)
A wonderful customer came in with a their story: this summer, he and his wife are finishing a massive, 43-year quest that started back in 1983 to visit all 63 National Parks. Their very last stop is the National Park of American Samoa, and he wanted to surprise her with a truly momentous gift to mark the achievement.
This is a handcrafted necklace featuring exactly 63 turquoise chunks, one for every single park they’ve explored together. At the center, Alfonzo hand-stamped a sterling silver overlay shield inspired by the National Park Service emblem, and integrated carved animal fetishes along the strand to capture the wild spirit of their 43-year journey.
To our amazing customers: thank you for trusting us with your most precious milestones and letting us play a small part in your adventures.
