In love with this antique cushion cut diamond we recently made for a client here at McTeigue. Antique diamonds are different because of their faceting pattern, or cut. The facets tend to be wider, or chunkier, and the culet - the facet at the base of the diamond - tends to be large. It’s that little spot right in the center of the stone.
When you see a diamond like this, it indicates that this diamond was likely cut in the 1800s. They’re less uniform than modern cut diamonds, and therefore more unique - and so charming. It’s so special when we come across a truly antique diamond like this, and makes for such a lovely piece of jewelry.
Sourcing a stone like this is challenging, but so rewarding when you finally find the right thing. Reach out if you’re ever on the hunt for something special and unique like this, or just a classic piece of jewelry. Always happy to add an item to the ongoing treasure hunt :) 🏴☠️💎
