Estate jewelry rarely arrives on a good day. Usually somebody has died, a house is being cleared, and a box has been sitting in a closet since the funeral 💛

We take our time with it. Pieces are sorted, looked over and tested one at a time, and anything worth more than its gold gets flagged rather than weighed in with everything else. If something should stay in the family, we will say so.

Bring the whole box. Sorting it beforehand is not necessary, and it is how good pieces get thrown away.

You need an appointment. You do not. Walk ins are welcome at all three stores, and appointments are only for large estate collections that take a while to go through.

You have to sell once you have come in. You do not. The evaluation is free and plenty of people leave with everything they walked in with 💛

Only clean, wearable pieces are worth bringing. Broken, tangled, single and unmarked pieces are all evaluated the same way.

A master jeweler is on duty at our counter. That is why a mark gets read rather than guessed at, why a repair gets an honest yes or no, and why a piece worth more than its gold gets flagged instead of weighed in with everything else.

Sterling is solid silver through and through, usually marked 925 or sterling, sometimes 800 on older European pieces. Plate is a thin silver layer over a base metal, often marked EPNS or silver plate or nothing at all, and it wears through at the edges and high points 💎

Flatware, trays, tea sets, candlesticks and jewelry all come in both. If you are not sure which you have, that is a normal question and testing takes a minute.

Do not clean anything. Polishing can take value off an older piece, and dirt has never lowered an offer.

Keep the boxes, papers and receipts. On branded and signed pieces they matter.

Sort nothing out as junk. Broken clasps, single earrings and loose stones all get looked at 💛

A master jeweler works on site. Ring sizing, chain and clasp repair, prong re tipping, stone setting, watch repair and restoration of pieces that have not been wearable in years. Custom work too, if you have an idea and some old gold to build it from.

We will tell you plainly whether a repair is worth doing before any work starts.
