As a jewelry lover, the history of jewelry really excites me. It’s fascinating how different cultures used jewelry to express their own unique styles and personalities.
The Berbers used jewelry as a portable means of savings since they were a largely nomadic populace. They used silver and semi precious stones to create beautiful pieces including large necklaces and headpieces that the women adorned for special occasions.
This is a picture from an antique store in Fes where treasures chests were literally overflowing with handcrafted Berber pieces.
