It has a range in color from yellow to green; ancient Egyptians called it the “gem of the sun” because they believed it glowed with light from the sun. Peridot gems have a rich history, spanning back 4,000 years! They sometimes get confused with Emeralds, and many historians believe that Queen Cleopatra’s Emerald collection were actually fine Peridot stones.
