Little Princess Aka-hime plays among the peach blossoms near her mountain cave. Her father, the eldest of all demon-oni, had taught her the ancient arts to take the shape of a dragon, to summon fire from the air, to strike terror into human hearts.

But Aka-hime desires none of it.

Her own magic is of another kind. It blooms in flowers and pearls, in the gentle waltz of fireflies at sunset, in the dewdrops resting upon pink petals. And most of all, within her lives her greatest gift to see the heart of any person, even when no words are spoken.

Yes, she is a demon — and she knew that the world would forever call her one. Yet to the soul who could glimpse her true spirit, she would give her love without fear, and guard them for as long as her strength endured.
