Today is a special day for Singapore, a day of celebration, pride and looking forward to another chapter.
But for me, today carries a different kind of emotion.
Today is the last day of La Fleur at Suntec City.
After more than 12 years in the jewellery business, this chapter is coming to an end.
I started La Fleur in 2014 with a small dream and a love for creating jewellery. From pop-ups, to a small storefront at Raffles City, and eventually to a bigger space at Suntec City, I’ve watched this little business grow alongside me.
Every space came with its own memories, the excitement of the first sale, meeting customers who eventually became familiar faces, packing jewellery late at night, celebrating good days, and pushing through the difficult ones.
But times have changed.
With rising rental costs and more people choosing to shop online, maintaining a physical retail space has become increasingly challenging for a small business like mine.
So today, while Singapore is celebrating its birthday, I’m saying goodbye to a place that has been such a big part of my own journey.
It’s bittersweet.
I’m sad. I’m emotional. There’s a little bit of disappointment too.
But most of all, I’m grateful.
Grateful that I had the courage to start in 2014.
Grateful that I kept going through all the ups and downs.
Grateful for every customer who walked through my doors.
Grateful for every piece of jewellery that found a new home.
And grateful for everyone who supported La Fleur along the way.
The closing of the shop doesn’t mean the end of La Fleur.
It simply means that this chapter is ending, and another one will begin in a different way.
Today, Singapore celebrates another year of growth and resilience. 🇸🇬
And perhaps, in my own little way, I’m learning to do the same, to let go, to be grateful for how far I’ve come, and to have faith in what comes next.
