16 months building G-EMZ β what I got wrong, what I learned, what's next
I've been working with gemstones for years β buying, evaluating, building relationships with suppliers, learning from people who spent their lives in this trade.
16 months ago I decided to turn that into a brand. G-EMZ.
Here's what I got wrong at the start:
I thought the product would sell itself.
Certified. Untreated. Fairly priced. Beautiful photographs. It seemed logical.
What I underestimated: in this market, trust is the product. The stone is secondary until the buyer trusts the source.
I thought volume would solve the problem.
More posts. More platforms. More automation.
What I learned: in a market where a single purchase can be β¬500 to β¬5,000, volume creates noise. Depth creates buyers.
What I got right:
Documentation.
Every stone certified by internationally recognized labs. Every certificate in my name. Full provenance on everything.
Stock quality.
I buy what I would keep. That filter matters more than any marketing strategy.
Where G-EMZ is going:
Focused on DACH market. Certified natural gemstones for jewelers, collectors, and investors who understand what untreated means. Physical stock in Germany. Free worldwide shipping with full insurance. No compromises on documentation.
If you work with colored stones professionally, or you're building a position in tangible assets β I'd like to connect.
Not to sell you something immediately. To build the kind of relationship where when the right stone arrives, you already know who to call.
