WELDED SEAM

A welded seam is where two pieces of material are fused together by heat and pressure alone, creating an adequate bond on thermoplastic coatings such as polyvinylchloride, polyurethane, polyethylene and polypropylene.

They are widely-used in the production of water-resistant items as they eradicate the presence of stitch holes. If these garments were stitched conventionally, the stitch holes would require sealing to prevent water ingress.

Welded seams are also being used increasingly for womens bras and babies’ training pants and nappies because they are comfortable – a significant benefit for close fitting undergarments. The finished seams rub the skin less, as they are flatter and lighter than conventional seams.

Chemical protective clothing is another area where welded seams provide improved pe*******on resistance, as there are no stitch holes for the chemicals to pe*****te.

The latest advancements in machinery and materials have resulted in cost-effective bonding systems that can withstand washing at 40ºC - 60ºC and have good dry-cleaning resistance.

The term ‘welded seam’ is also being used increasingly when a bonding agent is used between the two sections being joined. The bonding agents used are supplied as a liquid or film. The newer bonding materials available are continuous, solvent-free, thermoplastic products with activation temperatures between 70ºC and 130ºC. They are transparent, which eliminates the need for colour matching and consequently reduces stocks. They are also elastic, which can be an advantage when used on extensible textiles.

A bit tech explanation for an easy pick up. But let me tell you Textile people - this is one Engineering that applies best in Garment production. There will be people who knows --well, let those who doesnt, be enlightened...cuz decided to slowly discuss this in future postings...

And if combination is not equal that's called lacoste fabric.
In pique fabric we can see honey comb design/ hexagon design and in lacoste fabric we can see straight line between hexagon design
