Industry Competitiveness: UNIDO provides a variety of technical cooperation activities, encouraging value-addition in agricultural sector and industrial competiveness to increase employment opportunities for urban and rural communities. Sustainable Energy for All:
UNIDO provides technical assistance to government partners and the private sector to support sustainable energy for all. Clean Production and Green Industry: The UNIDO Environment programme focuses on cleaner production technologies provision in industrial sectors, and support for green industry and implementation of environmental agreements. Trade Capacity Building: UNIDO provides support to various government institutions like the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Commerce (MoC), Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), National bodies such as National Physical Standards Lab (NPSL), Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), Pakistan Standard Quality Agency (PSQA), Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and some universities, etc. to build trade capacity with support from the European Union and contributions from UNIDO. UNIDO provided technical assistance for sector-specific value chain development, resulting in the launch of a National Quality Policy and development of an internationally recognized national accreditation Institute. International Trade Centre (ITC) implements Trade Policy development with the MoC by sensitizing policy makers and the private sector on the WTO led multi-lateral trading system. World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) supports Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management with Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan to establish an IPR legal and regulatory framework. Technical and Vocational Education: The Education programme at UNIDO promotes demand driven education and training. Women Entrepreneurship: UNIDO initiated a Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme that focuses on the integration of women in highly non-traditional sectors such as, marble, gems/jewellery and home textiles by applying a UNIDO model of Value Chain Analysis and implementing innovative strategies to train and connect women as producers and entrepreneurs with the value chain as productive members of the industry.
