It was during the Silver Homecoming Reunion of Batch 1988 in 2013 when Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches Directress, Mrs. Josephine Kierulf-Zabarte, encouraged them to organize the Alumni Association. The reunion organizers made an effort to invite other batches to the following reunion but only a few were able to attend the event. A year after, during the Silver Homecoming Reunion of Batch 1989
in 2014, concrete steps were taken for the establishment of the Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches Alumni Association (SHANAA). Zabarte, she pledged a room to serve as the SHANAA office. The day after, during the reunion, Batch ’89 attendees filled out SHANAA application forms and were given identification cards signifying their membership to SHANAA. With sufficient funds culled from the 1989 Reunion sponsorships, efforts were made for the rehabilitation of the space given by Mrs. Zabarte that will serve as the SHANAA office. On February 20, 2015, the last day of the 44th Foundation Anniversary week of the school, the SHANAA Office held its ribbon cutting ceremony, and was attended by 1989 alumni. In an effort to reach out to more SHAN alumni batches, representatives from batches 1990, 1991, and 1993 were invited to meet with Batch 1989 to formally organize SHANAA. Research on Facebook revealed that there is an existing SHANAA FB page created by an alumnus of Batch ’93, with more than 4,000 likes; this FB page is now being used as the official FB page of SHANAA. To date there are now 38 members of SHANAA. 32 are alumni and 6 are associate members. Efforts are still being made to connect to more SHAN alumni in preparation for SHAN’s 45th Foundation Year in 2016 and eventually, its 50th Foundation Year that will be celebrated in 2021. We are still finalizing the sign up details for SHANAA. All SHAN alumni are encouraged to message us through this page for any concerns regarding SHANAA.
