The most highly sought-after rubies showcase a brilliant crimson tone, traditionally known in the marketplace as “pigeon’s blood” for its intensity. Rubies are also remarkable for their intense crimson fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet rays, which significantly enhances their visible sparkle and depth in natural daylight.

Numerous legendary gems can be traced back to the historic mines of Myanmar (previously Burma), though significant contemporary sources now include Mozambique, Thailand, and Madagascar.
