A: Kasi may difference ang “retail price” vs “appraised value.”
Let’s break it down:
⸻
🟡 1. Retail Price ≠ Appraised Value
• Labor / craftsmanship
• Design
• Brand markup
• Store overhead costs (rent, salaries, etc.)
• Appraised Value – ito yung estimated resale value or melt value ng gold. Usually, ito lang ang:
• Gold content / weight (in karats)
• Based on current market price (spot price)
➡️ Kaya kapag pina-appraise mo, tinatanggal nila yung design value at ibang dagdag—gold content lang ang tinitingnan.
⸻
🟡 2. Gold Price Fluctuates
⸻
🟡 3. Appraisers Use Wholesale or Pawn Value
• Most appraisers (lalo na sa pawnshops) use conservative estimates.
• Minsan, resale value or pawn value lang ang basehan nila, not the full value you paid.
⸻
🟡 4. Jewelry is Not Just Gold
The rest is alloy (for strength).
• So, kahit 10 grams ’yan, 7.5 grams lang ang pure gold, and yun lang ang ginagamit sa computation ng appraisal.
⸻
Sample Scenario:
Bumili ka ng:
• 10g 18K necklace for P60000
• Market gold price today: ₱6000 per gram (24K)
Appraised value:
• 10g x 0.75 (18K) = 7.5g pure gold
• 7.5g x ₱6,000 = ₱46,000 (minus pa minsan for handling or melt fees)
So kahit ₱60,000 ang bili mo, ang appraisal mo could be around ₱40-48k.
⸻
✅ Final Tips for Buyers:
• Think long-term: Gold is for value preservation, not quick flipping.
• Buy from trusted sources na transparent sa karat and weight.
