Bespoke jewellery handmade in Titahi Bay, New Zealand

Natalie Salisbury is a Jewellery Designer & Maker specialising in contemporary, hand-made, silver, gold and stone-set jewellery. She began her business in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter in the United Kingdom, but has since set her workshop up in Porirua, Aotearoa. Trained primarily in metalwork Natalie combines her love of pattern, repetition and texture to create varied design collections

through which such themes are explored. She is inspired by fashion and theatrical costume, old school glamour and burlesque, and she translates her references and research into work that varies in both the processes used to design it and the materials chosen to make it. The result is a broad portfolio of work that includes interesting, delicate, and yet strong statement pieces.

This one nearly escaped a post!

From December 2025:
Family Gold
Breathing new life into a piece
and
Making something more 'you' whilst at the same time respecting the history of a piece.

Thank you C for allowing me to re-design your family jewels from a 'two stone/cocktail ring' into an 'organic textured band' πŸ’›

When the world is burning and you've had the worst anxiety of (maybe) your life and the peri-menopause makes it worse and the HRT needs quadrupling and the ADHD meds dont appear to be working and your husband is 'prepping' and you're 46 next (next) month and the kids just wont listen and one of them has begun to wake for hours at a time each night you can feel a little lost in the small world that you have created for yourself and your kin and nothing feels very easy...
You make.
And in that making there is relief from tension and distraction from upset and the surge of what feels like calm concentration and though you know you're burying your head in a desert of sand the draw of the room in which you can quietly create it overwhelms and consumes you and is no real bad thing so you succumb and find solace and hope someone feels joy or a spark of life when finding the pieces you make because all that they are and all that they be are feasts for the eyes and therapy in three dimension and conduits for an appreciation of craft and of beauty.

A wonderful client recently said to me "I'm doing a bit of tidying up and I've got loads of jewellery that I just can't see me wearing again".

Which is like music to my ears if I'm honest ☺️, but it also prompted a thought...

This might not look like much of a photo;- a messy bench peg with a sprinkling of silver dust, old sprues and memories of pieces handmade, hand-forged, drilled and soldered and sculpted.

But as the price of this 'dust' continues to rise and rise let me remind you that here in my workshop, as I always have done, I re-use and recycle and make every last grain of precious-ness count. More than 90% of the precious metal that I use is recycled, and almost all of the scrap I produce here in my workshop is refined or re-used and repurposed into new work.

And with these rising prices it seems that it is the time to really consider its value and remind ourselves of what we might have stashed away. Now could well be the time to delve into your jewellery boxes, remove the pieces that no longer represent you, and have some new life pumped into them.

My daughter recently had her ears pierced and it prompted me to look at the stash of silver jewellery my mother had once bestowed to me in my youth. Some pieces can absolutely be passed down and worn anew, but some others perhaps not so!
And into a melt they may well go!

If you've any questions about how we might go about re-purposing your pieces then do reach out - all questions are welcome and worthwhile! Alternatively visit www.nsj.co.nz where you can find out a little more about the process βœ¨πŸ™

Not to brag...but

It genuinely blows my mind that these thjngs all come from the creative space that is my mind.

These days I pride myself on the versatility within my work...the flexibility I have and have allowed myself to create such fine and intricate work alongside such substantial 'chunky rough stuff'.

Whether your aesthetic preferences lead you to the delicates designs of my organic floral Briar and Lace collections, or to the rudimentary style within my Future Artefacts and GLOW pieces, suffice to say I've got breadth.

And why not toot my own horn?

What's your fave? What draws you in more? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™Œ

It me! Forever *trying* to glam it up and Forever failing 🫠

But sometimes the work just has to speak for itself βœ¨οΈπŸ’πŸ‘Œ

(Its a Ru Paul reference)

But seriously...hand forging is no (quiet) joke!
Hugely rewarding though - like and follow to see what I made βš’οΈπŸ’
