Big openings. Six-metre chimneys. 450sqm+ of architectural ambition 👌

This Morrinsville build with Bare Acre Builders Ltd has been a great one to be part of.

Our scope included structural steel for large-span garage openings, steel through the main living areas, and framing for one of the two six-metre-high chimneys.

And a shoutout to LAD Architecture! Bennet reckons some of the clearest drawings he’s worked from... When details are sorted upfront, fabrication and install become a whole lot smoother.

Good people. Good planning. Good outcome.

Keen to keep doing more work like this across the Waikato 💪

Not every steel project is structural. Some are more of a statement piece!

For this hilltop home, the brief was clear: create functional screening that looked like it belonged with the property and surrounding architecture.

The client asked us to design and fabricate custom Corten steel panels in two locations:
- Garage screening panels
- A custom enclosure to conceal bins, gas bottles and utilities behind the sleepout - complete with a large sliding access door

To make it personal, we also incorporated the family crest into the design, converting the artwork into a laser-cutting file for the Corten steel.

Everything was modelled upfront, including hidden fixing locations and post placement, to ensure a clean finish once installed.

Big shout out to Dan and the team at Urban Homes whose crew helped make the final fitment seamless.

Not every install comes with fresh blueberry muffins 🧁 This one in Pauanui did!

An elderly couple needed a safe way down their front steps. met them on site, talked through what they needed, and designed a custom handrail to suit the deck and the height that worked for them. Hose holder welded straight onto the rail too, so the garden hose has a proper home.

One small surprise on install. When Bennet pulled up the decking planks to secure the rail, the brace beams weren't where he'd expected. No drama. Off to the store, back with what he needed, job sorted.

316 stainless steel. CNC mandrel bent tube. Built for coastal conditions, built to hold real weight.

The family lives out of town and were stoked to have peace of mind that mum and dad can safely navigate their own stairs.

Hopefully word gets around the Pauanui club 😎 We can do plenty more of these!

Most sliding gates need a ground track. This one doesn't.

This is a cantilever gate. Suspended above the ground, no track required. It slides on a counterbalanced frame cantilevered back behind the post, which means it works perfectly on gravel, camber, or an unfinished entrance where a standard track would catch, lift, or jam.

The fin-style aluminium infill was specified by architect Noel Jessop from for this rural Raglan build.

Flat on when you look straight through it, closed off when you hit it from an angle. Yup, it's a more complex build, but it looks pretty sharp!

This one was delivered out in the Waikato, on a site. Rural entrance, rail fencing either side, concrete sill, full powder coat.

If you've got a rural property in the Waikato or wider NZ and the entrance isn't level or sealed, a cantilever might be worth considering. Get in touch.

Big steel project up Paku 🔧

And no, it wasn't the easiest site - tight access, some serious lifting involved, and did we mention tight access?!

We brought in the big dogs for lifting this structural steel into place. No room for second chances with portals this size. It needs to be right first time.

Working alongside Taylor Projects & Solutions on this one. Solid crew, makes a big difference on jobs like this 💪

Off-the-shelf doesn’t always cut it 🔧

So we altered this set-up to get these e-bikes mounted safely on the front of the caravan. Solid, secure, and ready to roll.

Now it’s loaded up and ready for the good stuff…
🚐 happy campers

Before and after of some stainless fence components we’ve just had electropolished.

These are part of a 45m stainless fence build, and the finish came up mint thanks to the team at Spiraweld in Auckland.

Normally we’d pickle and hand Scotch-Brite stainless, but across this much fencing that’s a lot of work to get a really consistent finish.

Electropolishing smooths the stainless surface and leaves it cleaner, brighter and more corrosion resistant - a good option for coastal builds like we see around the Coromandel.

Nice seeing the before and after on this one.

Stage 2 of this large build is now fabricated and on its way to the painters.

The workshop has been flat out lately, with multiple projects moving through to keep builders on track with their timelines.

Good to see this one progressing into the next stage.

Great working alongside Taylor Projects & Solutions on this build.

🛠From CAD design through to fabrication and delivery, it’s always satisfying seeing the steel head out the gate.

Both rust.
Only one is built to stop there.

These two fire pits look similar at first glance.

Same weathered, burnt-orange finish.

But one is Corten steel - designed to form a stable protective layer that slows corrosion and protects what’s underneath.

The other is standard mild steel - which keeps rusting, flaking, and breaking down over time.

If it’s going outside, especially in coastal conditions, material choice matters.

Same look. Very different lifespan.

At Alted, and the team get this, and build for longevity.

We spend most of our time working on structural steel and custom fabrication. Big beams. Heavy stuff.

But every now and then, we design something small (often because we want one at home!).

Pretty chuffed to say these smokeless fire pits have been a bit of a charmer 🔥

✔️Designed in-house.
✔️Fabricated from raw corten steel.
✔️Manufactured in our Tairua workshop.

(For the record, says we only need one at home… 😅 so if you'd like one, let us know!
