WHY CHOOSE KELLS WOOL?
We kept the Napier auction alive — and we’re proud to stand behind it.
Kells Wool is an independent North Island wool broker, committed to keeping local wool trading strong and delivering real value for our growers.
Independent by choice — no marketing schemes, just an open cry auction and competitive bidding.
Proudly North Island — keeping wool trading local and supporting our regional wool industry.
The Napier advantage — supporting a local auction that keeps wool, competition and opportunity in our region.

We believe North Island growers deserve choice, competition and a strong local wool industry. That's why we continue to back the Napier auction and the communities that support it.

Napier Wool Auction – Market Report

Auction Commentary
With the sale brought forward a day due to Hawke’s Bay anniversary, bidding was fast and animated, with the trade in the room ready to get the job done.
The Napier wool auction saw the clean average ease by only 2 cents/kg compared with our previous sale, with lower yields prominent throughout the catalogue influencing greasy returns.
Well-coloured, well-presented long hogget wool attracted good competition and continued to sell well, highlighting the ongoing demand for quality lines.

MARKET EXPORTS
A positive step for the wool industry!
The New Zealand–India Free Trade Agreement takes effect today, removing the 2.75% import tariff on New Zealand wool
entering India. Access to an important export market creates opportunities for greater demand and future growth in the
wool trade.

Market Report
It wasn’t all doom and gloom at today Napier Independent Auction, with well-presented long hogget wool continuing to attract good attention from the trade.
Today’s market reflects levels last seen in May this year, highlighting the softer tone currently being experienced across the wool market.

Export Market
Orders have eased, with manufacturers treading carefully as they navigate the current economic conditions. China has also put the brakes on, adding further pressure to the market.
Despite the challenges, quality and well-presented wool continue to stand out and attract buyer interest. Preparation is KEY ALWAYS.

INDEPENDENT WOOL AUCTION NAPIER
AUCTION COMMENTRY
With another cold snap in the mix, the market warmed up — and so did the bidding!
The majority of the Kells catalogue consisted of second-shear ewes and hoggets, with a lower-yielding offering overall. Despite this, it was great to see a solid lift in the average greasy price, bringing values back to April levels.
A positive day in the auction room, with stronger bidding and improved returns across the board

MARKET EXPORTS
BUYER ACTIVITY: Steady competition. Full clearance. Export demand was evident in the sale, with buyers back in the market and competing strongly across the offering. A lower supply over the past few weeks has kept the pressure on exporters, although a reset was needed after June levels rose too quickly for exporters to sustain it seems the market has adjusted with a gradual
increase.
