Peter Latham has excelled himself once again with his stunning new panoramic photographic print, titled ‘Bonsoir Akaroa’.

Available as a limited edition, either as a framed print on archival canvas (as pictured) or unframed on high-quality fine art paper, Peter has shared the following insights into the capture of this beautiful image:

“After yearning to capture a distinctive sequel to my classic panorama “Bonjour Akaroa” I decided the iconic Akaroa Head lighthouse would be my focal point. After gambling with the weather over several trips that disappointed, I finally captured this scene one winter’s evening, beginning on the right as the sun still lit the township & then panning to the left as it began to descend behind the hills & formed this brief starburst - Bonsoir Akaroa!” - Peter Latham

Location: Akaroa, Banks Peninsula

We are into our second week of ‘Untethered’ and it’s been a delight to welcome so many of you through our space to view this latest body of work by local artist Jacqui Gibbs Chamberlain.

Interest has been high, but we still have some show-stopping paintings as yet unsold, including the enigmatic ‘Prize Winner’, pictured here.

With an equestrian theme running through the work for this collection, ‘Prize Winner’ combines this imagery with Jacqui’s unrestrained use of colour, unexpected subjects, unique composition and shifts in perspective.

Jacqui Gibbs Chamberlain’s latest solo exhibition, ‘Untethered’, is inhabiting our exhibition room in all the right ways. Drawing you into the space, this is a dynamic collection of oil paintings and sculpture exploring freedom, movement, stillness and connection.

With an equestrian thread running strongly through the collection, Jacqui’s distinctive use of colour, expressive mark-making and unexpected juxtapositions create works full of vitality and movement, balanced by quieter moments of contemplation.

Jacqui has shared the following words about this body of work:

“To be Untethered is to hold two truths at once: the thunder of horses running free across the open ground, and the stillness of standing beside an animal and breathing.

Life exists within this contradiction — the rush forward and the quiet of presence.

Solitude holds its own noise, while the world beyond calls urgently. Yet the purest freedom arrives in the hush beside a horse, or the steady rhythm of a dog’s walk.

True freedom is not about escaping the lead, but in the quiet knowing that while running you remain held to what you love.”

— Jacqui Gibbs Chamberlain

We’re delighted to once again be exhibiting Jacqui’s sought-after work - make sure you experience this bold new exhibition by one of our favourite local artists.
