Hi Everyone,
Time for another newsletter to keep you all in the loop about what’s been happening and what’s coming up.
Some of our grommets have been doing great things here and around the country. Thomas Owen, Jordy Elder, and Max Woolfindin were selected to spend a day in Raglan hanging out with the top WSL surfers — how cool is that!
Alexis and Zara Owen have also been selected to represent New Zealand in El Salvador this September. Let’s all get behind them and help support their fundraising for what will be an epic adventure.
Our Scholastic Team has now been selected, and they’re gearing up for Gisborne during the September/October school holidays. They’ll also be running fundraising initiatives, so please support them where you can. There’s currently a Seer custom surfboard raffle doing the rounds. A huge thanks to Sherrill Passau, Katy Jenks, and Davey Woolfindin for taking on the job of managing the team and getting them up there.
End of Season Prize Giving
Our End of Season Prize Giving is set for Saturday, 13 June at the Boardriders Clubrooms.
Doors open: 5:00pm
Indian takeaway dinner: 6:00pm sharp
Prize giving: around 7:00pm
Emerson’s and catch-up to follow
It’ll be great to catch up with everyone over the colder winter months, so get off the couch and come down for a fun night. And don’t be late if you don’t like cold naan!
Anyone who still has trophies from last season, please return them to Dean Rogers’ house (154 Victoria Rd) by the end of May.
60th Jubilee
As this is the club’s 60th year, we’re starting to organise a 60th Jubilee celebration, which we plan to hold around St Clair over the weekend of 20–21 November.
We’re aiming to keep things simple and affordable for everyone. More details will follow in the coming months, but make sure to lock those dates into your calendar now.
I’ve really enjoyed watching Raglan host the WSL event, especially some of the incredible surfing over the last few days.
Please make an effort to come along to the End of Season function on Saturday, 13 June. We’re putting some of the club’s hard-earned cash into creating a fun night with plenty of curry and naan.
See you there,
JD
