Elevating your outfit from day to night doesn’t have to be complicated 👠

My outfit was simple - jeans, a tee and sneakers for a day at home. I had an event in the evening and elevated it with two simple pieces.

A fabulous blazer by STORM Clothing and some killer shoes. Kathryn Wilson shoes that I purchased secondhand on marketplace. 👠

From the supermarket to the event, I had at least 6 people comment about my shoes and it made me feel even more fabulous. 👠

If you lead a busy life or have a small wardrobe, often all it takes is a few key pieces to completely change the feel of your look. 👠

Supporting wāhine to find their own style and wear it with confidence is what I love to do. 👠

I take an honest look at your wardrobe, I look for gaps and address what you may have too much of. As well as discovering your unique style vibe, finding joy in highlighting your best bits and discovering which colours are your friends and foe.

Dolly Parton showed us all how to shine. From her rhinestone confidence to her unwavering kindness, she lived unapologetically. She didn’t dim her light to fit in.

She never apologised for being exactly who she was, in fact she utilised this 💖

Be bold. Be yourself. Be kind.

Rest easy, Dolly. You taught us that being a strong woman means sparkle, grit, and grace all at once. You and Carl are together again 💖

Striking and sophisticated

Sitting front row at The Shed runway show watching R E B E and doing what I always do: playing the “which pieces would I actually wear” game. And I could hear other attendees doing exactly the same thing.

That’s when you know a collection has done its job right.

These pieces are smart, sophisticated and beautifully made with subtle details that feel modern and thoughtful.

Every item looked like it would earn its place in a considered wardrobe, doing the hard work season after season.

That’s exactly the kind of curated, wearable collection I advocate for.

Huge respect to REBE Healy for showing us fashion that’s both striking AND practical.

Walk the walk

On Wednesday at NZ Fashion Week I was reminded that sexy has no size. It has no shape. It has no age.

Watching Liam runway was everything because real women of all shapes and sizes stepped up and out in their confidence.

B***y. Bootilicious. Back rolls and tiny waists. Different frames, different proportions, different beautiful.

Most of us carry bits of ourselves we may not “love”. But that’s not the point anymore. The point is loving your best bits so fiercely that everything else fades.

Highlight them.

Decorate them.

Own them.

Because nothing, is more sexy than a woman who feels like the strongest version of herself.

As a stylist, my mission is simple: help you step out into your world feeling that good. That powerful. That unapologetically you.

Thank you Liam Lingerie for getting this right. For creating beautiful, size inclusive lingerie. We all deserve to feel sexy in our own unique ways 🖤

A show stopping piece from the Adrian Williams collection at The Shed runway show 🖤🤍🖤

Last night, I stepped into a dream. 💭

A personal one of attending a NZ Fashion Week event and The Taylor Boutique show.

When we arrived, the space felt suspended between reality and imagination. Moody, mysterious, almost haunting. The old stone walls. The industrial bones of the building. The way the light moved. The energy in the room. How the audience dressed. 🧛‍♂️

Then it began.
One model. Four dancers.

A collection called Somnii (Spring/Summer 26/27) “inspired by the dreamscape.”

What struck me wasn’t just the clothes (though designer Vicki Taylor’s work was exquisite: layered, textured, architectural). It was the concept.

“There is a moment between sleeping and waking where things feel both familiar and strange.”

The model, yes only one, would slip away to change, and the dancers wrapped in the collection would move through the space with strength and power, showcasing the versatility of the garments.

Lining the runway, the mannequins stood like silent witnesses, dressed in the pieces we wouldn’t see on physical bodies. They weren’t backdrop. They were the show as well.

And then came the genius part: once the show finished, we got to step into that dream ourselves. Up close and personal with the mannequins, touching and feeling the fabrics, the construction, the details. We spoke with the dancers, with the model. The boundary between audience and performance dissolved.

It was bold. Different. Theatrical.

This is what fashion should do. Make you feel something. Make you think and make you want to wear the clothes.

Fashion week, may the dream continue.

Today I was at an event and it was wonderful to see how beautiful everyone looked.

I’ll never tell you how to dress but please don’t save outfits for “good or special occasions ”.

By the time we often deem and event special enough, we may actually want to wear something completely different or treat ourselves to something new.

Think about how you can wear special pieces in different ways.

Can you make the dress into a skirt by adding a top, changing your shoes to a sneaker to give it a more casual vibe.

Sometimes it just takes a bit of time playing with different combinations, have fun, get creative and don’t worry about getting it wrong. 👗👟

Puffer jackets are almost like a uniform down here in the south - west wear them in Winter ❄️ Summer 🌺 Autumn 🍂 and Spring 🐣

For a long time we didn’t have a lot of options for purchasing a good warm practical and stylish jacket.

Over the last few years I’ve become a huge fan of Moke Apparel, an Oamaru based clothing company.

I have several pairs of their pants, t-shirts and I’ve just added the Arnie jacket to this list. 🧥

It’s easy to become a creature of habit when it comes to our jewellery 💍

This week’s mission - have a play in your jewellery box and wear some pieces you haven’t worn in a long time.

Then do a bit of an audit and move pieces on to a new home or even better a new design.

Let me know how you get on or what’s been the best way you’ve upcycled pieces you’ve stopped wearing.

And remember it’s okay to change something you inherited or were given. Better to wear it than have it stagnate and oxidise in a drawer or box 🗃️
