I can’t remember the last time I didn’t have an East saddle on the saddle racks in for repairs!
A very popular saddle for a shepherd. There seems to be no shortage of these saddles around, in a variety of states too!! The East saddle is by far the most common saddle I repair which just proves how popular they are.
This is a before and after shot of a John Bunyan East I recently set to work on. A new seat and saddle flaps being the main areas replaced as well as a couple other areas that needed attention while it was apart.

Latest pack saddle off the stand heading to the north island. Repurposed and refurbished swivel arches paired with new boards, rigging and bags. The spider britchen was one I had originally made for the clients saddle which I have converted to suit the pack saddle with 6 points of contact. Double girth rigged with a long pad to stop any bag rub, 2x large canvas pannier bags and 2x canvas sacks for big bulky gear to go up top. Bring on the summer trekking 🐎🏕️ ⛰️🤙

East saddles! These saddles are a popular choice for musterers and stockman. Today repairs are being done on a handful of them, maintenance as well as oiling and reconditioning also, to make them last for many more years.

Winter saddle repairs!
Now is a great time, while things are a bit quiet on the farm, to get any repairs done on saddles, tack and other gear that’s been on the “to do list” for a while
This Pearce East saddle has come in for some repairs recently, receiving a new seat, girth billets, new saddle staples and some other small patch ups.
