Handcrafting the perfect gift or treasure to keep - distinctive, delicate and sustainably elegant. Distinctive | Attainable | Sustainably Elegant handcrafted eco jewellery created at my home in Auckland, NZ. Looking good is one thing, but doing good is a value on which I’ve built my business. I’m a lover of classic beauty and fine details and I proudly put my name against the pieces I handcraft wi

th care. My jewellery makes more than just a fashion statement. It’s made with 100% recycled Sterling Silver and Copper and genuine cultured Freshwater Pearls, Swarovski Crystals, NZ Paua Shell, Greenstone, Kauri Gum and other semi-precious gemstones. I take my inspiration from my love of nature around us and I also try to look after that same environment in everything I do, including donating to charities that I’m passionate about. I love bringing beautiful, every day pieces to you - whether it’s a gift between friends, someone you love or if you think: “I deserve it!”

Since becoming a full time mum in 2008, I've become really aware of how - when feeling a bit rubbish - our inclination can be to slouch around in comfy clothing (of even your PJ's), not bothering much with dressing up or wearing makeup. It's so easy to lose confidence in yourself! In 2010, my husband gave me a birthday gift voucher for a one-on-one jewellery making tutorial, which I loved! I began creating jewellery for myself and others - trying to create pieces with a pop of colour or interesting design that was easy to wear and gave an extra boost of confidence to the wearer. After a few years and some suggestions from friends and family,
I decided to try and sell my creations. It became an easy habit - to pop on some beautiful earrings or a distinctive ring - to feel happier within myself, and I found it did the same for my customers too! What I really enjoy is seeing the look of delight & happiness in my customers eyes - making other people happy is such an awesome feeling! Before becoming a mother, I was an Ecologist + Environmental Planner. I have always appreciated the amazing diversity of our natural environment, and that's where most of my inspiration comes from now. Spirals are evident throughout our natural environment and are a prominent throughout my work with wire jewellery, so I wanted a business name that would reflect that - but at the same time, not just be 'spirals'. The word "curlicue" means a flourish, or double ended spiral and is something a little distinctive - which I thought was perfect! The "NZ" stands for all things New Zealand - the land where I grew up and my heart belongs to. :)

I hope you enjoy my jewellery as much as I love to create it for you! You can also find me at:

UPDATE/ EDIT: Some additional 💩 news! I then had a DVT (blood clot in my leg) confirmed a week ago, which delayed everything.
Firstly it was delayed by a week, then by 3 months(!) - to allow time for the DVT course of blood thinners run, then it changed again to another couple of weeks - at the 31st August. Pretty sure this is the confirmed date now 🤞🏼

So I'll probably have take that first week of September off...

I've had some 💩 news.
I have stage 1 breast cancer, but it's been caught early (thanks mammograms! If you're due - please go get yours, it has literally saved my life ❤️) and I'm due to have surgery next week!!

I'm feeling good though and my prognosis is also really good.
I'm very lucky! I'm hoping to be able to continue making/ working... 🤞🏼🤞🏼 (but there may be a little delay.)

Picture for attention 😉

Unfortunately, I have to increase my prices (along with everyone else - it seems!) Due to NZ Post price increases, packaging and materials....So get in quick before the price goes up at the weekend. Even if I don't make the piece this week, it will still be at the current pricing.

This week, I’ve come back to NZ, after being in Brisbane for a week settling my one and only child (daughter) in for her new life - doing a Creative Arts degree at QUT. ❤️

SO I’m now an ‘empty nester’! Which feels kinda weird, but lots of exciting times ahead too - and don’t worry, plenty of future family holidays still planned! 😁

I do have all sorts of plans for Curlicue NZ - but not making any promises just yet.
I’ve also come home with a nasty cough/ cold, so taking some time to rest and recover.

But now with all the ‘family + health stuff’ that’s been dominating my life over the last few years, I’m finally starting to feel - hopeful? 🤔 I’m not sure if that’s the right word, but it does sum up a bunch of things, so let’s go with that! 🤩

See you more regularly soon
xx
Suzie 😊
