Handcrafting the perfect gift or treasure to keep - distinctive, delicate and sustainably elegant. Distinctive | Attainable | Sustainably Elegant handcrafted eco jewellery created at my home in Auckland, NZ. Looking good is one thing, but doing good is a value on which I’ve built my business. I’m a lover of classic beauty and fine details and I proudly put my name against the pieces I handcraft wi

th care. My jewellery makes more than just a fashion statement. It’s made with 100% recycled Sterling Silver and Copper and genuine cultured Freshwater Pearls, Swarovski Crystals, NZ Paua Shell, Greenstone, Kauri Gum and other semi-precious gemstones. I take my inspiration from my love of nature around us and I also try to look after that same environment in everything I do, including donating to charities that I’m passionate about. I love bringing beautiful, every day pieces to you - whether it’s a gift between friends, someone you love or if you think: “I deserve it!”

Since becoming a full time mum in 2008, I've become really aware of how - when feeling a bit rubbish - our inclination can be to slouch around in comfy clothing (of even your PJ's), not bothering much with dressing up or wearing makeup. It's so easy to lose confidence in yourself! In 2010, my husband gave me a birthday gift voucher for a one-on-one jewellery making tutorial, which I loved! I began creating jewellery for myself and others - trying to create pieces with a pop of colour or interesting design that was easy to wear and gave an extra boost of confidence to the wearer. After a few years and some suggestions from friends and family,
I decided to try and sell my creations. It became an easy habit - to pop on some beautiful earrings or a distinctive ring - to feel happier within myself, and I found it did the same for my customers too! What I really enjoy is seeing the look of delight & happiness in my customers eyes - making other people happy is such an awesome feeling! Before becoming a mother, I was an Ecologist + Environmental Planner. I have always appreciated the amazing diversity of our natural environment, and that's where most of my inspiration comes from now. Spirals are evident throughout our natural environment and are a prominent throughout my work with wire jewellery, so I wanted a business name that would reflect that - but at the same time, not just be 'spirals'. The word "curlicue" means a flourish, or double ended spiral and is something a little distinctive - which I thought was perfect! The "NZ" stands for all things New Zealand - the land where I grew up and my heart belongs to. :)

I hope you enjoy my jewellery as much as I love to create it for you! You can also find me at:

Hello everyone
I know it's been a little while...

But March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.
This month I'm doing a very import thing. I'm doing a swim challenge - to swim 120 laps of the Newmarket Olympic Pool (50m length) to raise $ for NZ Endometriosis funding and research, to help fellow sufferers with this life-long, incurable, systemic (whole-body - not 'just a gynaeological') inflammatory disease.

You might be wondering what this has to do with my jewellery biz. The answer, is 'everything'!
Having severe endometriosis and not being able to work in a 'regular office job' was the reason I started Curlicue NZ, back in 2013. 💗
Having suffered from this disease since I was 13 (35+ years ago!!) I decided to join this month to raise awareness and money...

And today - it's Double Your Dollar Day!! (with the amazing support from Oxford Women's Health) - every $ you donate today - they will match it.

DID YOU KNOW?
Endometriosis affects (at least) 10% of those born with a uterus in the population. That's the same as the number of women who have Asthma and Diabetes?!
Which health issue do you know more about?

It also takes (on average) 10 years to be diagnosed with Endometriosis.
So for all the teenage girls in your lives - think of them being in agony every month for 10 years before 'getting the diagnosis' (which is only the beginning of the journey) - and being constantly told along the way that 'it's just a normal period'! (When it's NOT!!)

SO
Please consider supporting me and the 120,000 others in NZ with Endometriosis? 🙏🏼

I'm off for another swim today - I've currently done 48 laps - 72 to go!! 💪

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted, because I've been tied up with family matters:

After valiantly battling pancreatic cancer for the last 14 months, my Dad (David Bruce Willmott) passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday 27th September aged 86 (very nearly 87!) at Harbour Hospice, North Shore, after going in on the Monday for respite care.

It's definitely been a tough time for my Mum & I to navigate, but we're doing OK.

Even though my Dad was a very complicated personality, and we disagreed on most things in life, he was still my Dad, and I still loved him.

May the Road Rise to Meet You, Dad
May the Wind be always at your back.
May the Sun shine warm upon your face
And, until we meet again,
May you be held in all our hearts, and rest in eternal peace. 💞
