So we took it climbing. Romsdalshorn, on the west coast of Norway, felt like a fair test.

Five years ago today we put Straum out into the world. With the generous help, and lending of office space, from Aksel Jermstad , and Daniel , we launched Opphav and Rastarkalv. Thank you to the friends and family who helped us spread the message and make a name for ourselves.

When we first set out to design a watch brand anchored in Norwegian nature, we knew almost nothing about watches. It took years of work, alongside establishing families and holding full-time jobs. When we launched Straum, we weren’t sure if anyone would care. It turns out some of you did, and a lot of you are still here. We couldn’t have done it without your support.

Thank you for five years. The autumn ahead is the busiest we’ve ever had, more on that soon.

Our new titanium bracelet, here on the Frozen Metal, and made to fit every titanium watch we make. Grade 5 titanium, light on the wrist, with a hardened surface that shrugs off the scratches of everyday wear. Our newly developed quick-release moves you from bracelet to strap in seconds, entirely tool-free, and the on-the-fly micro-adjust sets the fit exactly right.

Compatible with all of our titanium watches. Grade 5 titanium gives a bracelet substantial enough to feel like a serious tool, light enough to forget on the wrist. It warms to the skin rather than sitting cold against it. It has a hardened surface, making it scratch-resistant so you can wear it without a second thought.

Our new titanium bracelet comes with our newly developed quick-release mechanism. Bracelet to strap and back in seconds, entirely tool-free. The integrated on-the-fly micro-adjust lets you adjust the size to fit your wrist just right.

Captured by , these images show how dramatically the Jan Mayen Frozen Metal changes depending on the light and the viewing angle. The frosted dial shifts between soft silver, bright white, and subtle grey, while the blue PVD-coated hands and applied markers continuously change tone as reflections move across the surface.

It's a watch designed around interaction rather than spectacle. One that becomes more interesting the longer you spend with it, revealing new textures and contrasts throughout the day. At the same time, it is built to be a constant companion. With precisely finished surfaces designed to maximise wearing comfort over long periods, and a Grade 5 titanium housing and bracelet treated with an ultra-hard coating that protects it from scratches, it is the ultimate expression of the GADA concept.
